Thread Face Lift

The PDO Thread lift is a minimally invasive, short recovery technique that can shave years off your age without major surgery or visible scars.

The LasaDerm PDO Thread lift has a unique and patented line of sutures – a safe material widely used in surgery for more than 50 years. Unlike conventional sutures which are smooth, our PDO threads have tiny barbs (or cogs).

Each thread is inserted into the skin through a very fine needle or cannula, gathering the skin and stimulating the tissue to provide new support scaffolding for the soft facial tissues that lift and hold them in place. As a result, a refreshed look and a better facial contour are visible immediately after treatment.

In general, the best candidates are women and men from the mid thirties to sixties who want a more rejuvenated and longer lasting effect than fillers or Botox® and are adverse to a surgical face-lift

When performed by a trained doctor, the procedure is very safe.

Risks and complications are uncommon. In the rare event of a complication, the threads can be removed or repositioned. The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia, so there are none of the risks associated with general anaesthesia.

Usually only one procedure is needed to achieve the desired effect. However, it is possible to have treatment in stages and repeated if needed. The PDFO Thread lift can be used in combination with Botox® and fillers to enhance the result.

There may be bruising at the injection site and some minor swelling where the thread is positioned under the skin. These symptoms should subside quite quickly and you should be back to normal after approximately 48-72 hours, however in some instances it can take up to 7-10 days.

Following treatment you will be given aftercare instructions that must be followed to avoid dislodging the threads from their supportive tissue whilst the collagen reaction takes place.

Some of these instructions include avoidance of forceful facial rubbing, strong active facial movement, sleeping on the side of your face, avoiding excessive mouth opening and some sporting activities. This will all be explained to you and with a little care is easily achievable.

You will see an immediate improvement (once the swelling subsides), however it will be three months to start to see the full results from treatment.

Depending on the age of the patient at the time of the procedure, the degree of sagging and the number of threads used, doctors experience shows the duration varies from 2-3 years.

Treatment is not permanent – PDO threads are absorbed by your body. Your skin will return to its natural state over time, so future treatments will be needed to maintain the look.

PDO threads have a number of notable advantages over Silhouette Soft. Results from PDO thread therapy may last for 2 years compared with approximately 12-18 months for Silhouette Soft. There are differences in design too. Silhouette Soft threads contain cones to hold them in place but without an anchoring point. PDO threads are designed with soft 3 dimensional barbs and are anchored to give a lasting tissue lift. The advantage of barbs over cones is in the way they hold and manipulate tissue. The manipulation of the threads actually causes trauma under the skin. This trauma is an essential part of neo collagenesis and the barbs give better collagen regrowth by comparison, mainly due to their design. This in turn gives a longer lasting result. Polydioxanone as a materiel provides higher tensile strength compared to Poly L-lactic acid used in Silhouette Soft threads. Poly L-lactic acid threads have also been shown to cause granuloma, can slip or re-position following insertion, give increased puckering and may be visible on the surface.
